Hi, my name is Tony and I'm the director of EasySalsa Dance and Salsa Viva Productions. I'm honored to be your instructor and to share my expertise with you. I have been teaching Salsa and other Latin dances for 10 years and I have a total of 18 years teaching experience. As one of the first three full-time Salsa instructors in Vancouver, I am well known and respected in the local
Salsa scene. I have built my reputation through hard work, professionalism and a tremendous amount of care for my students. My ability to break down moves and teach them in a proven step-by-step and easy to understand method, and my ability to assess problem areas and derive a customized solution to suit the individual student are second to none. But don't take my word for it. You are welcome to read our testimonials page to see for yourself what our students say about us.
I have been blessed with several teaching opportunities in my life which contributed greatly to my becoming an effective dance teacher. My vast teaching skills extend to other areas such
as flight training, aerobics, computerized accounting, and computer
applications. However, the skills cultivated as a flight instructor along
with my knowledge of the music and the dance proved to be a major asset and helped me most in the dance instruction arena. That's mainly due to the fact that both require a substantial amount of eye-hand-foot coordination and split-second execution of proper techniques. Ten years ago when I was contemplating a career change, I knew that my skills as a flight instructor would be extremely valuable as a dance teacher. I remember thinking if I were successful in training over 110 student pilots to become proficient pilots, I know I can do the same or better in Salsa. That was one of the major reasons that motivated me to walk away from a career in aviation and become a full time dance instructor. It is now ten years later and here I am.
In my classes I focus on style, rhythm, variety and effective leading and
following techniques. These are the components needed to build a strong foundation in Salsa dancing. And, with a solid foundation to build on, becoming a good Salsa dancer is simply a matter of practice. I'm sure you've all heard the expression "practice makes perfect" but this is more so true when you have a good solid foundation to start with. To that add my large repertoire of moves and
combinations that will satisfy both the beginner and advanced Salsa
student and voila, you're on your way to becoming one of Vancouver's top Salsa dancers. My objective
is to teach my students how to move their bodies to
the music with flare and passion. Dancing is expressing to the world how
you feel the music. Therefore, to simply learn steps and tricks
is not enough.
I truly believe that I have earned my place as one of Vancouver's top Salsa Instructors.
My effective techniques have helped not only the beginners to
learn and become good dancers, but also many veteran dancers have
benefited from my teachings. All you have to do is ask around
and you'll find that I come highly recommended by many of my students
many of whom have become some of Vancouver's top Salseros and some have even become instructors. That said, it gives me great pride in knowing that I have played a major motivating role in their lives and for that I'm grateful. And I hope I get the opportunity to do the same for you. See you on the dance floor!
